Rules vs Snippets
Understanding the difference between Rules and Embedded Snippets
Rules vs Snippets
WrapStudio offers two powerful ways to add 3D product visualization to your store: Rules and Snippets. Understanding when to use each will help you create the best experience for your customers.
Quick Comparison
| Feature | Rules | Snippets |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Customer uploads their own artwork | Display pre-made product visuals |
| Use Case | Print-on-demand, custom prints | Ready-to-ship framed art, merchandise |
| Customer Interaction | Uploads image → sees preview | Views existing 3D product |
| Scope | Product or Collection-based | Single product + variants |
| Best For | POD stores, custom frame shops | Art galleries, ready-made products |
What Are Rules?
Rules connect WrapStudio to specific products or entire collections. When a customer visits a product page matching a rule, they can upload their own image and see it displayed in a realistic 3D preview.
Rules are perfect for print-on-demand businesses where each customer's order is unique.
How Rules Work
- You create a rule and link it to products or collections
- Customer visits a product page that matches the rule
- Customer uploads their artwork
- They see an instant 3D preview showing their exact image
- They add to cart with confidence

When to Use Rules
✓ You sell custom canvas prints
✓ You offer personalized framed photos
✓ You have a print-on-demand business
✓ Customers provide their own images
✓ You want to apply settings to multiple products at once
What Are Snippets (Embedded Views)?
Snippets are pre-configured 3D views for specific products. You upload the artwork yourself in the WrapStudio editor, and customers see that exact 3D preview on the product page.
Snippets are ideal for ready-to-ship products where the artwork is already set.
How Snippets Work
- You select a product and open the WrapStudio editor
- You upload or create the artwork in the editor
- You save the snippet with your configured 3D settings
- Customers see the pre-made 3D view on the product page
- They can rotate, zoom, and interact with the 3D preview

When to Use Snippets
✓ You sell ready-made framed art pieces
✓ You want to showcase specific artwork in 3D
✓ You have licensed prints or artist collections
✓ The customer doesn't need to upload anything
✓ You want maximum control over how each product appears
Using Both Together
Many stores benefit from using both Rules and Snippets together:
Pre-made Collection
Use Snippets for your curated collection of ready-made framed art pieces. Each product has its specific 3D preview configured by you.
Custom Print Services
Use Rules for your custom print services. Customers upload their photos and see them in a frame or on canvas before ordering.
Mixed Products
The same product can have both! A snippet shows your default suggestion, while a rule allows customers to customize with their own image.
